Just saw Tanka's tweet about his and Pasteman's remix on Hybrid Theory's track 'Whispers Talk'. Mini album will be out next Monday, 12 of December 2011 on four40 recordings. EP contains two original tracks and three remixes including works from Whole Sick and Famous Eno.
I don't want to call this EP future garage or future breaks or even UK Bass as release contains too much of diverse genre elements. Yes, you can hear syncopated snare drum hits over beat pattern but it's not garage. Also you can hear quite typical broken rhythms but this doesn't make tracks sound like break beat or breaks. UKB therm means nothing to me as I think it's wrong to tag music in this way. Anyway album is definitely large!
'Long Walk Home' - track that comes alone without remixes on this album. Deep ambient texture in the background with powerful beat on top. Heaviest kicks and sharp reverberated snares. A lot of delayed FX's and pitch modulated bass shots. Name talks for itself. Great track for fast walking. Being dreamy somewhere in the streets.
Main theme 'Whispers Talk' is essence of beautiful synths, tough bassline and amazing vocal cuts. Very flexible track for remixing. Proved by Whole Sick with his UK Funky remix. Other while Famous Eno shows us really unusual vision and makes weird distorted kick drum banger which is extremely groovy and catchy. Hope to hear it on the dancefloor. Going to be heavy as hell.
Last track on the album. Tanka and Pasteman with same remix. This rework is most similar to original mix but with some major changes. Now you hear floating kick drum not snare as it was in the original. Huge edit on bassline patterns. Now they sound short and punchy as they sometimes mixed with floor toms. In the end it sounds almost house music when beat changes to typical straight four to the floor kick drum rhythm with open hi-hat between them. Same great touch on cutting vocals. Big up!
